Once I set my foot on Australia everything changed: I feel so comfortable in a country where nobody stares as me and I can mingle in the crowds, I walked around Melbourne and felt I could hug the world. I had friends to hang out with, I could communicate perfectly with everybody and everything seems so easy out of a sudden. No awkward foreigner-situation, no misunderstandings, no old-fashioned traditions to consider... just easy-going life with super-friendly people, nice weather and the warm feeling of arriving home.
And most importantly: we were re-united after being apart for the last 4 months!!!
The following weeks in Australia will be less touristy and more about meeting John's family and friends between Melbourne and Brisbane. That's why there are less stories in the blog for now...
But of course to give you an idea where we are and what we see, this is a summary of our first 4 weeks together (warning: this might get a bit cheesy!)
my birthday cake in St. Kilda:
re-united in Sydney:
back at my beloved Bondi Beach, which I had watched via webcam for the last 6 years:
exploring more of Sydney's suburbs, like Manly, Watson Bay and Neutral Bay:
New Year's Eve overlooking the Sydney harbour fireworks (which were rather disappointing to be honest):
Off to Canberra, where John grew up, here the famous Lake Burley Griffin:
sunset over Red Hill, Canberra:
on Canberra's Telstra Tower:
back in Melbourne witnessing phantastic sunsets during the heatwave (44degree max)... but I loved it!
heat wave best to be enjoyed in the water:
trip to the Great Ocean road:
...and the ocean: at Lorne:
...and finally a pub night gone wild:
You guessed right: super-happy, both of us! :-)
